OUR STORY

A sustainable evolution — on nature’s terms

Swedlog’s roots are in fruit and vegetable packing. For many years, we have worked closely with both the produce itself and suppliers—and we kept seeing the same problems return. Inconsistent quality, short shelf life, and significant waste were long a well-known system failure in the fruit value chain. Fruit that looked good on the outside but disappointed once cut open was an issue the entire industry has lived with for a long time. For consumers, it was a gamble.

As experienced players in the fruit and vegetable sector, we knew this wasn’t about isolated mistakes or temporary fluctuations. The system failure was widespread. But when we came into contact with a new, groundbreaking ripening technology, we finally saw the solution. It was a sustainable evolution—and it also became an evolution for us as a company.

The decisive shift came when, by chance, we came into contact with a new and groundbreaking ripening technology. For the first time, we didn’t just see the problem — we saw that there was also a solution.

A technology that didn’t force rapid ripening, but instead recreated the natural process. One that respected the fruit’s origin, biology and natural rhythm. Where data, precision and understanding replaced shortcuts and guesswork.

For us, it was immediately clear: this was an opportunity to do more than improve a product. This was a chance to create positive and sustainable change across the entire value chain.

Sustainable ripening — for real

In 2023, we began working with algorithm-driven ripening. By recreating the fruit’s natural ripening process in controlled ripening rooms—with precise control of temperature, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and ethylene—the fruit can ripen without stress, from the inside out.

When ripening works, real value is created. Quality is assured, waste is reduced, and trust grows—from grower to consumer. For us, sustainability isn’t an ambition—it’s a measurable outcome.
