A higher standard for health and sustainability
Swedlog’s ripening technology creates added value at every stage — from cultivation to consumption. Through our optimized ripening process, avocados and other fruits achieve extended shelf life, more resilient skins and consistently outstanding fruit quality.
For wholesalers and grocery retail, this means fewer claims, reduced waste and more satisfied customers. For consumers and food professionals, it means better-tasting fruit and more sustainable choices, where no fruit is unnecessarily wasted.
Lower climate impact
Reduces resource waste and lowers the carbon footprint across the entire value chain.
Higher profitability
Our products strengthen demand and improve both margins and overall performance.

Sustainable impact across the entire value chain
A fruit that reaches a Swedish store has travelled a long way — from cultivation in, for example, South America, through packing facilities, transport and ripening, to the shelf. Every step affects the climate footprint. That is why we don’t work with sustainability in just one stage — we work across the entire value chain.
Through close collaboration with producers, we take shared responsibility already at origin. Raw material that does not meet our high quality standards is handled locally, where it can still be put to good use — for example in processing such as guacamole or other food products. This ensures that only fruit intended for consumption continues through the supply chain.
STEP 1
Cultivation and initial sorting at origin
The journey begins with the grower, for example in Peru, Mexico, Colombia or Spain. After harvest, an initial sorting and quality assessment is carried out. Through close collaboration with producers, we actively work to strengthen producer responsibility already at this stage.
Fruit that does not meet our quality standards is sorted out locally and can instead be used for processing, such as guacamole.
This ensures that raw materials are utilized where they add the most value — and are not transported unnecessarily.
STEP 2
Transport to export port and sea freight to Europe
Fruit that meets the requirements is cooled to slow down the ripening process and transported by truck to the export port. There, it is loaded into refrigerated containers and shipped by sea to Europe.
Sea freight is the most resource-efficient way to transport large volumes of fruit over long distances — provided that the right fruit is shipped.
STEP 3
Arrival at Swedlog
When the fruit reaches Sweden, it is delivered directly to Swedlog. Here, we take responsibility for the next critical phase of the value chain.
Instead of allowing the fruit to ripen uncontrollably along the way, it is kept stable until it is ready for ripening under controlled conditions.
STEP 4
Controlled Softripe™ ripening and packing at our high-tech facility
At our ripening facilities, we recreate the fruit’s natural ripening process using algorithm-driven technology. With precise control of oxygen, carbon dioxide, ethylene, and temperature, the fruit ripens evenly, stress-free, and predictably. The result is consistent quality, longer shelf life, greater trust, and less waste. This creates decisive value—for the climate and for every stakeholder involved.
STEP 5
Distribution to wholesalers
Once the fruit has reached its optimal level of ripeness, it is distributed to wholesalers. Thanks to the extended shelf life, planning becomes more accurate and waste in the next stage is reduced. Wholesalers receive a product they can confidently stand behind — and that is guaranteed to be used.
STEP 6
Retail, restaurants and foodservice
Finally, the fruit reaches retail stores, restaurants or large-scale kitchens. Here, consumers and chefs encounter fruit that delivers on its promise — in both flavor and shelf life. The result is fewer claims, minimal waste and greater trust at the final stage.
STEP 7
At home
When consumers get home with the fruit, it’s perfectly ripe—and stays perfectly ripe for a long time. In fact, 12–14 days longer than traditionally ripened fruit. It keeps even longer when stored in the fridge. With predictable shelf life and consistently excellent taste and texture, there’s no need to guess when it’s ready to eat. And every actor in the value chain can trust that the fruit that’s purchased will also end up on the plate. Everyone benefits.
We turn the world’s healthiest fruits into a sustainable story
70%
Approximately 70% of the fats in an avocado are monounsaturated fatty acids, which are beneficial for heart health.
35%
According to data from the Swedish National Food Agency (Livsmedelsverket), fruit and vegetables account for 35% of food waste in the retail sector.
40%
One avocado provides approximately 40% of your daily fibre requirement.
25 %
One mango provides around 25% of the daily requirement of vitamin A, which is important for vision and skin health.
x 2
A kiwi contains twice as many natural antioxidants as an apple.
20%
Approximately 20% of all food produced globally is wasted for various reasons.
100g
An avocado (100 g) provides almost twice as much potassium as a banana.
50%
The United Nations aims to halve food waste per capita and at retail level by 2030.
We work every day to make avocados and other sensitive fruits more sustainable. By ensuring that every fruit harvested is also consumed, we significantly reduce food waste and thereby lower the overall climate footprint. It’s about respecting nature’s resources — and making the most of every single harvest.
When fruit ends up on the plate, both the climate and public health win
Despite fruit being one of our most valuable food groups, vast amounts are wasted every year — often due to how and when it ripens. To create a more sustainable future, we need solutions that reduce waste, make full use of every harvest and minimize the climate footprint across the entire value chain. That’s where we come in.
Minimal waste
Minimal waste makes a real difference — for both the climate and the economy. When fruit lasts longer, ripens evenly and retains its quality, waste is reduced at every stage.
Easy to choose healthy
Choosing healthy becomes easy when the fruit delivers on its promise. With guaranteed quality, you know what you’re getting—every time.

Perfect fruit. Twice the shelf life.
Buying avocados, kiwis, and other delicate fruit should be easy and reliable. With consistently high quality in every piece of fruit, you know what you’re getting—better taste and a more resilient skin. The fruit is perfectly ready to eat with a long shelf life—around 14 days longer (even longer when stored in the fridge) than traditionally ripened alternatives. That means less waste at home, in retail, and in restaurants—in fact, throughout the entire logistics chain.
Fruit ripened using our technology has approximately twice the shelf life — around 12–14 additional days.
96% of consumers would buy avocados more often if quality and shelf life from the date of purchase were around 10 days longer than traditionally ripened avocados.
