Company

What happens when sustainability isn’t a function, but the business itself?

We sat down with our Head of Sustainability, Anton Ekman, to talk about where the company’s real sustainability advantage lies—and why food waste is one of the most underestimated climate issues in the food industry.

“Swedlog’s clearest sustainability advantage is embedded in our core offering. Through extended shelf life and consistently high quality, we help reduce waste compared to traditionally ripened avocados. This creates tangible sustainability benefits across multiple stages. For consumers, it means a product that lasts longer at home. For retailers, it means reduced waste and better in-store performance. For producers, it means improved opportunities to capture value from what has been grown. And fundamentally, it leads to better resource efficiency with less unnecessary food loss.”

This, Anton explains, is where Swedlog’s sustainability efforts need to begin. The focus should be on the real impact the company’s technology and way of working create throughout the value chain.

“When waste is reduced, more of what has already been grown, transported, and handled is actually used. That means better utilization of land, water, energy, and labor.”

Alongside this work, we have developed a sustainability policy and key governance policies, including a Code of Conduct. These are essential building blocks for a growing company. However, what makes Swedlog unique is its ability to combine quality, sustainability, and business value in a way that creates real impact for consumers, retailers, producers, and the environment.

He continues:

“Looking ahead, it’s about building on what is already a core strength of the company, while more clearly integrating, developing, and following up on our sustainability efforts. I look forward to continuing that journey together with the Swedlog team.”
